Black Sand Reflection

A trip down into the magical Pololu Valley inspired me to focus on the black sand beach and the water as it interacts with the stones scattered along the shoreline. I wanted to capture the golden sand that appears after the waves wash back into the ocean because they make amazing patterns. Unfortunately every time I setup a new wave would come and wash the design away. What I started to notice was how beautiful the reflected blue sky was against the black sand and so I shifted my focus to a wider shot. © Christopher Johnson www.fromhereonin.com
