Mauna Kea Snow

On Christmas Eve we decided to go play in the snow on Mauna Kea. Hundreds of people had the same idea. As we rounded the corner on the last few turns of the steep windy road we were halted by trucks parked in the road as it was being filled with snow to be brought back home for a snowy Christmas. Then at the top there was sledding and snowboarding everywhere. I think this is the only place where people sled on boogie boards. A super fun, but exhausting Christmas Eve. 14,000 ft elevation is tough on people that live at sea level. © Christopher Johnson www.fromhereonin.com
